Frisco Railroad Trail Marathon
I was reading Trailzombie's blog yesterday and he was talking about the Frisco Railroad Run. I took a look at the pictures of the trail and description of the course and that old familiar buzzing started in my brain.. trying to work out details and figure out if it was do-able. And turns out, it is! So on a whim I've signed up for the marathon. I was needing a nice long run and this will fit the bill perfectly. It's a rails-to-trail course on the old Frisco Railroad. The race starts in Willard, Missouri and looks pretty low key and smallish. My kind of race!

That's great! I too saw his post. It looks like they did the trail right. When I Googled trails in the Jopin area, it mentioned the Ruby Jack trails. An old railway line. Long story short, the tracks and cross-ties were still in place so it was 14 miles of that. Never again!ReplyDelete
Hey thanks for the advice abut my first ultra!! =) I was looking through your blog...are you in/near Oklahoma? I'm from there and will be moving back in a year. I have no idea why I thought you were there, maybe because of the Wichita Mountains and a small sidebar ad from Oklahoma...ReplyDelete
Amanda, yes I'm in Noble, OK. I didn't know you were moving back! When that happens maybe I can talk you into joining us for a trail run sometime! Do you know what part of OK you'll be moving to?Delete
ABSOLUTELY!!! I'll be coming "home" most likely in a year...and I'll be moving to Edmond. At least that is the plan for now! But I would love to join you for a trail run or two or 50! =) I have added your blog to my sidebar so I can follow along and I will keep you updated on my move!!!ReplyDelete
COOL! So excited that you are moving back and I might get a chance to run with you! :) And small world..Courtney (who posted the comment below) knows your friend Melanie! They met on the airplane on the way to Boston last year. Crazy!Delete
Wow...that one does look like fun! It's the day before the Memorial, so I might put that one on the list for next year. :)ReplyDelete
We drove out to Stillwater today to run the Remember the Ten 5K (which was a lot of fun!) On the way there we drove past Lake McMurty and I thought of you! We talked about doing that one in the future too.
P.S. 5 Miles Past Empty...I'm in Edmond. Great trails at Arcadia. :)
NO WAY!!! I remember Mel telling me about an OK girl on the airplane! Such a small world!!!Delete
And trails around Arcadia? COOL! I remember sneaking out there in college to be...er, college-like. Certainly not to run! I can't wait to get connected once I get there!!! I'm going to bookmark your blog, and Julie's too!!! WOW!!!
That is crazy! Yes, we met Melanie on the plane to Boston. We talked the entire way. I really enjoyed meeting her! :)Delete
I'll look forward to meeting up with you and getting a run in! I'm going to bookmark your page too, so we can keep in touch. You'll have to let us know when you get here.
How did it go? I was out there popping the Mary as well.ReplyDelete
